OK, so what do you think...?

Now that we have been looking at poverty as a global issue, please share with each other your answers / opinions to these questions:

1. How do we decide what is poverty?
2. Does education help to prevent poverty?
3. Do scientists have a responsibility towards the poor?
4. What about experts in other areas of knowledge such as the arts or mathematics?
5. What should our response be to poverty?
6. Does our knowledge about poverty bring with it an ethical obligation to do something about it personally? If so, what can we do?

Please post your answers / opinions as a comment to this post.

Questions, ask! Thanks, Mr. A

1. The way we decide what poverty looks like is by checking if a human is dying of hunger. Its when someone has no money to buy food and goes to sleep hungry.

2. Education does help to prevent poverty because it is much easier to get a job when you have good education, therefore, you will have money to buy the food you need.

3. I believe that scientists do not have responsibility for the poor because its the people that aren't able to get the education and get a job to make some money.

4. I think they have very little responsibility because they could be going out and helping some of the poor to learn so that they have the knowledge and will be able to get a job.

5. Our response should be that we all help out so that less and less people will die of starvation. Poverty is a big issue and should be dealt with.

6. Yes, it does give us obligation to personally do something about it. We should stop using our money to make ourselves look good and hep those people out. Celebrities and big companies should be able to donate some money. Also, the government is the biggest one who should be able to donate alot of money and get people out of poverty.

My Answers and Opinions:

1. We decide what is Poverty by the way we see poverty affects people, and by what Poverty does. We have to see the amount of people that are dying because of Starvation(Poverty).

2.Yes, Education does help to prevent poverty. When you have an education its more likely that you will have a career and a future in life where you will be able to have money and a good life and not living in poverty.

3.No, they don't have to be having a responsibility towards the poor but they sure are trying to find ways to help the poor out in any way that they can help. By making crops that always grow and scientific stuff....

4. Well, them either they don't have to have a responsibilty to the poor. But I think that they do anyways try to help. They probably get together with the scientists trying to make up new ideas.

5. We should try to beat it on any way that we can by giving out food or animals for the poor to get food out of the animals. There's not much that we can do to help, or any response won't actually make a big difference but we should neer stop trying.

6. There is no Obligation to do anything about them, but if you want to or feel the need to maybe you can donate an animal to a poor family in need, or start a fundraiser. There's not much that we can do.

3.Yes, i do believe that scientist have a responsability towards poverty because in a way they all created "factories" that made poverty worse, and for helping us (USA), they are destroying other countries (ex;Africa).

4.Yes, I do believe that experts in other areas of knowledge are responsible for poverty because in a way, we are all responsible because in a way we all did something to make it worse.

5.Our response for poverty should be that we all do something to help out other nations to make them better because if a Country goes "down" other countries will go down with them.

4.I don't think that it is their problem either, i guess it just sometimes ends up being that way or they bring it upon themselves.(poverty people) Though, everybody should try to help one way or another, try not to be a selfish person.
5.Our response to poverty should be to help any way that we can and for them to also try and help themselves because you really have to want it, try, and be grateful for it..
6.I think we should do something about it presonally because we should all be nice, grateful, and help eachother to be at peace and bring health because it will not only help us (people) but our Earth too.
